Gaining an Emergency Order of Protection

There can be circumstances where you believe that your own life, or that of your children or other dependents, is in danger. In such cases, you can file for an Emergency Order of Protection, and this will be speedily placed in front of a judge. This often happens within a couple of hours, or during that day.

The court then considers the content of the petitioner’s sworn statement and assesses whether immediate relief is required. This happens even though the defendant is not actually present to answer any allegations made. The court, if it feels this is warranted, can then issue an immediate OP.
