This is a question our team are asked from time to time regarding reports of suspected child abuse. Many different people can initiate an investigation. The list includes other family members, neighbors and friends. In terms of occupations, reports are made by medical staff, social service workers, counselors, and school administrators or teachers.
However, within the above list are people referred to as ‘mandated reporters’. These are individuals who, due to their profession, are actually legally required to report, to relevant authorities, any suspicions they have of child neglect or abuse.
Our team, here at Granholm & Gynac, based in Joliet Illinois, are experienced at dealing with DCFS investigations; we can be reached by calling 815-566-8611.
